Benham League

DATE: 9 October 2011
OPPOSITION NAME: Duston

1st half
Today was the start of the Benham Senior Netball league 2011/12. Before I comment on our first match I would like to say farewell on behalf of the whole team to Vicky Edwards (now at university) and Naomi North (resigned due to living in Brackley). They will both be missed. On a good note I would like to welcome on behalf of the whole team two new junior players joining JMs Blues this season. They are Yasmin Dhaliwal and Hannah Knight. We almost lost our fantastic GS Chloe Mortimer who has also started her first year at university last month. But, thank god she has decided to commute from Wellingborough to Bedford University.

Our opponents today were the lovely ladies of Duston Netball Club but sadly one of our players from Kettering had to drop out at the last moment due to car breaking down. So we were left with six players at the last moment (too late to ask one of our reserves to play). Our captain and vice captain decided to play without a WA position.

The half time score was 9-2 to JMs Blues.

2nd half
After spending the first half warming up we went into the second half like a rocket. Our rhythm of play returned and the goals started flowing for JMs Blues. Our defence players were magnificent as usual. Our opponents never gave up though, but their shot on goals let them down in this match. It was a delightful match and well umpired. JMs players were: Honor Drummond (GK), Trudie Avery (GD), Amanda Walker (WD), Lauren Kelly (C), Mona Noel (GA) and Chloe Mortimer (GS).

The final score was 25-3 to JMs Blue.

Well done ladies.
